Science and Spirtiuality

I am bringing this blog back to its root. When I started Analytical Way I wanted to share my experience balancing my love of science with my spirituality. In popular culture science and spirituality are viewed as opposing teams with completely contrary views. There are few people of science who have strong spirituality portrayed in the media although in my personal experience some of the most spiritual people I have known are scientists. I have never seen science and spirituality as conflicting but rather as complementary. Science lets me better understand the world and discover new ways to help myself and those in need. Spiritually gives me the moral compass that guides me through good times and the bad.

I have been a Buddhist for most of my life and have not been private about it but have not discussed it in social media. Buddhism in the United States is often stereotyped and othered. The Buddha has been with me and guiding me even when I was not listening as well as I should have been.  And, I see the Buddha in everyone and everything including science. Respecting science to do what it does best, finding factual explanations for the world around us, for me, is respecting my spirituality. That is how I personally have kept both my respect for science and love of the Buddha from conflicting.
