About

Ted Harris has over 15 years of experience leading innovation teams in the financial service space focused on using machine learning and big data to solve complex business problems. He has over sixty patents focused on payment, two peer-reviewed papers on consumer purchase behavior, and shepherded dozens of products into production.

As SVP of data science and research at Deep Labs (an AI start-up), he built both teams from the ground up focusing on diversity, culture, and raw talent. Under his stewardship, Deep Labs successfully ran an additional fundraising round, executed four SOWs with major financial institutions, rebuilt the core ML/AI engine, and won a major government contract.

Prior to joining DeepLabs, Ted Harris helmed research teams across Visa’s organization exploring product innovation and emerging technologies. He led several major initiatives in identity, risk, and authorization that led to major Visa offerings. To this day, most real-time risk models at Visa run on a rapid AI development framework he and his team created.

At Quality Planning Corporation (a unit of Verisk), Ted managed an innovation team, focused on data, ML/AI, and product design. He helped transform QPC from a start-up to a major division within Verisk. Ted also pioneered using data gained from the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to power identity, risk, and marketing solutions in the insurance space.

Ted received his MS in Economics from the University of Oregon. Throughout Ted Harris’ career, he has focused on bringing the best out of himself and others to enable the art of the possible.
